Free agent slugger Mike Napoli is drawing tons of interest this off-season and not just from American League teams. Napoli hit .239 with 34 homeruns and 101 RBI in 150 games with the Indians in 2016. He played 98 games at first base and committed 13 errors which isn't great, but he wasn't put in the lineup for his defense. I would say the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies are the main two teams looking at Napoli in the National League.
The Cardinals need a power guy at first after letting Brandon Moss go to free agency. At this point in his career Moss is basically just a platoon player and Napoli could play everyday at first. The defense won't be great, but they will get an outstanding clubhouse guy and a player that can hit 30 plus homeruns. Napoli is loved by his teammates and coaches and would fit in St. Louis with that atmosphere. I could see a 2 year around 20 million deal getting done for Napoli in St. Louis.
The Rockies need someone to produce at first and Napoli could hit 40 plus homeruns in Coors Field. They thought that would happen when they got Mark Reynolds, but maybe Napoli can be the answer at first for them. Another possible National League team would be the Mets if they fail to re-sign Yoenis Cespedes. Maybe Napoli plays outfield for them or some first just so the team can get more power in the lineup. Regardless of the team Napoli has drawn interest from many different teams and it will be exciting to see where he ends up.
